Description
Argos Black Rigato 6mm Porcelain Slab
It features a dark anthracite body characterized by horizontal ribbed lines intersected by white veining. Produced through a partnership between Apavisa and Aparici, this material was developed for projects requiring dark-toned surfacing.
Natural black marbles are prone to issues such as limescale stains, acid etching, and scratching. As this product is porcelain, its surface is immune to these problems. It is 6 millimeters thick. Being significantly lighter than natural stone, it does not place excessive load on building facades or movable cabinet doors.
Architectural Applications
Its primary colors are anthracite and smoke-grey. The horizontally ribbed surface does not reflect light directly. It creates a striking contrast when paired with light-colored furniture or wood accents.
- Interior Walls: Its matte finish prevents glare. It can be installed as panels on living room walls, around fireplaces, or on bathroom walls.
- Furniture Surfaces: Thanks to its slim and lightweight profile, it can be mounted on kitchen islands, bathroom cabinetry, and concealed door surfaces, reducing the load on hinges.
- Exterior Facades: It is resistant to cold, frost, and direct sunlight. When applied to exteriors, it does not crack or fade due to temperature fluctuations.
Technical Advantages of 6mm Porcelain
The staining and maintenance issues associated with natural black stone do not apply to this porcelain:
- Liquid Impermeability: The surface is non-porous. It does not absorb liquids; oil or acidic fluids remain on the surface. Unlike natural stone, it does not require the regular application of protective chemicals.
- Handling and Installation: Its slim profile makes it easy to cut and transport to upper floors. It can be adhered directly over existing tiles using a primer, eliminating the need for demolition work.
- Scratch and Heat Resistance: Produced by firing at high temperatures, the surface is exceptionally hard. It withstands scratches and temperature fluctuations encountered during daily use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the striped (rigato) texture difficult to clean?
Since the body is non-porous, dirt cannot penetrate the material. It can be cleaned simply by using a damp cloth and standard surface cleaners.
Will the 6mm material break when used on walls or facades?
When the adhesive is applied without leaving air pockets, it bonds seamlessly with the substrate. Its flexible structure provides resistance against impacts.
Can it be applied over existing ceramic or marble?
As it is a lightweight material, it can be bonded directly onto existing walls or floors by applying a transition primer.
